For those not aware of the procedure for raising the lake in spring; The State Park does not begin the process until all floating ice is off the lake to avoid damage to riparian owners.  This year, different from most saw all the snowmelt on the surrounding lands disappear before the lake ice.  Additionally, the State Park rain gauge captured 3” of rain during the “raising” process of 2018 as compared to 1” this year.

Summarizing all this means, last year the State Park began raising the lake Mar 29 and this year were unable to begin until April 9.  Currently the lake is about 3” below its summer level and still on the way up.
